About

I like the point where a CAD model becomes a physical system—then gets tested, measured, and improved until it works reliably. I’m a mechanical engineering graduate interested in robotics, practical manufacturing, and products that are easy to service.

On student teams, I’ve taken mechanisms from a rough set of requirements to the machine shop and into field testing. I enjoy making the tradeoffs visible: what we need to measure, what we can simplify, and what the next prototype should teach us.

Projects

  1. Modular Sample Collector

    Design · Fabrication · Test

    2025–2026

    Designed a replaceable collection module for a student rover. Compared three concepts against weight, access, and contamination requirements, then fabricated the selected mechanism. Used repeated outdoor trials to refine the latch geometry and make tool-free servicing more predictable.

  2. Motor Characterization Rig

    Instrumentation

    Fall 2025

    Created a compact bench rig for comparing motor performance under load. Integrated sensors, wrote a Python analysis notebook, and documented a repeatable setup procedure. The resulting torque-speed plots helped the team choose gearing using measured behavior rather than catalog values alone.

  3. Repairable Desk Light

    Design for assembly · Personal project

    Spring 2025

    Prototyped a task light built around standard fasteners and replaceable parts. Iterated the hinge with 3D-printed samples, modeled cable routing, and made an illustrated assembly guide. The project became a small study in designing for the person who eventually has to repair what you build.

  1. Mechanical Design Lead

    Autonomous Systems Team

    2024–Present

    Led a four-person mechanism team from requirements through fabrication and field testing. Managed interface drawings, design reviews, and build schedules; created a shared test log so electrical and software teammates could trace each hardware revision and its results.

  2. Product Development Intern

    Fieldwork Instruments

    May 2025 – Aug 2025

    Supported enclosure and fixture design for environmental monitoring equipment. Prepared manufacturing drawings, compared material options, and helped run bench tests. Updated assembly instructions after observing where technicians needed better access or clearer part orientation.

Help new team members translate a sketch into a workable fabrication plan. Review drawings, encourage early fit checks, and share the small lessons that rarely make it into a textbook.

Outside engineering

Restoring old bicycles, sketching mechanisms, and spending time outdoors. I’m happiest when a design is understandable enough that someone else can confidently improve it.
